Breath and touch

TOUCHING AND BEING TOUCHED
Touching and being touched is one of our most fundamental sensory experiences and, along with eating, breathing and sleeping, is a basic need of all human beings. The skin, our largest sensory organ, picks up every touch, every vibration, no matter how small, and passes it on to the heart and brain. Touch is the first sensory experience we have when we come into the world and the only sense that does not diminish with age.
For babies, loving touch is vital. A fundamental basic sense of trust is nurtured through touch from a very early age. The hands they nestle into, the embraces that they enjoy, when given with warmth and loving kindness, let them know they are accepted and loved.
But touch is also essential for adults. It reminds us of our origins, strengthens the immune system and brings us into closer contact with ourselves.
The affectionate touch of another can help us to perceive ourselves in greater depth, with greater awareness. In the process, the hormones oxytocin and serotonin are released, which enable us to relax deeply, regenerate and form bonds.

Your breath as an anchor
Even as an embryo in the womb, the baby is moved and rocked with each inhalation and exhalation of the mother. There, it is warm, safe and quiet.
Lomi massage remind us exactly of this comfortable rocking - through extensive skin contact, wave-like movements and the special hand movements that encapsulate the limbs and torso, a feeling of deep security is created.
The essence of Lomi Lomi Nui is also expressed through the breath:
The person giving the massage uses the breath to connect with the person receiving. This in turn creates a resonance that picks up both physical and emotional vibrations with the aim of deepening the breath and dissolving tensions. The active lung volume can increase and the autonomic nervous system (fight, flight, freeze) relaxes. Emotional stability is established, and at the same time one's consciousness leans towards the realization:
That is me.

HOW WE BREATH, SO WE LIVE
The connection between breath and touch is a way to get in touch with oneself - comparable to a physical unfolding. Like a bridge between thinking and feeling, a connection to one's own source of creative power and joy of life is formed. The wonderful thing about it is that the path to our own divine core becomes tangible again. At the same time we can connect with an energy that is greater than ourselves. We gain access once more to our potential, creativity, intuition and self-confidence.
INTEGRATION OF BREATHWORK INTO OUR SEMINARS
As trained, certified breathwork therapists, we are familiar with the power of circulating the breath.
It is therefore an essential component not only in our treatments, but also in all seminars of the Lomi training.

PROCESS-ORIENTED HAWAIIAN
BODYWORK IN TRAINING
How can you as a massage therapist accompany your clients during the session? What role does the breath play?
First of all you will learn to meet yourself and to use the breath as an anchor. This will help enormously later on to prepare for massages, accompany your clients safely through their emotional processes and to integrate afterwards what you have experienced. Naturally, this is a powerful method that you can also use yourself in everyday life.
During the training you will gradually develop confidence in dealing with challenging issues that your clients may bring with them. The continuously circulating breath serves as an anchor throughout this process. Practicing this in the group will create the foundation you need in order to work confidently and sensitively with your own clients later on.
